Watch in silver pair case. Thirty hour duration, single train, gilt brass, four pillar fusee movement with verge escapement. Polished steel balance with flat spiral balance spring. Silver regulating disk engraved with Roman numerals I to VI. Pierced and engraved balance cock with grotesque mask. Pierced and engraved gilt metal slide plate fully covering potence plate. Engraved with the words 'THOs LEYDEN, LONDON.1305'. Convex white enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, dot minute markers and Arabic quarters. Signed 'LEYDEN LONDON'. Gold spade and poker hands. Silver pair case hallmarked 'London 1793-1794' with makers cameo stamp 'R P' (Richard Palmer, 2, Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell, London). Inner case back engraved with the initials 'T.M.H.' Outer case back engraved with the words 'Watch worn by Capt. Thomas Masterman Hardy R.N. at Trafalgar 1805'. Round section stepped pendant with nickel bow. Convex glass over dial. Faded red velvet packing piece in back of outer case. Pendant, bow and both hands are later replacements.
