Steel balance with blued-steel spiral balance spring. Tompion style regulator with silver regulating disc engraved with Arabic numerals 1-6 interspaced with arrowhead markers. Engraved on potence plate with 'Wm Plumley', 'London' and '5007'. Convex white enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals and dot minute marks. Gold arrowhead hands. 18ct gold pair case hallmarked 'London 1767-1768' with makers incuse stamp 'I.W' (John Wright?). Outer case engraved with the stern of the 'San Josef'. Small slim pendant with stirrup bow. Convex glass over dial. Dark blue leather-covered rectangular fitted case with hinged lid. Lid lined with blue satin. Base lined with blue velvet. Circular blue velvet covered watch retainer. The watch is believed to have once belonged to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805).
