The flag is made of synthetic fibre bunting and is machine sewn; the design is printed. There is a cord running through the hoist with a wooden toggle. Normandy Ferries began service in 1967 on the Southampton to Le Havre route in joint operation with the P&O-owned General Steam Navigation and the French S.A.G.A. (Societe Anonyme de Gerame at d’Armencent). The firm also ran a service from Le Havre to Rosslare. They amalgamated with P&O in 1976 and in 1980 the Normandy Ferries name and livery was dropped.
