Purse
Seal skin purse or pouch, hand sewn with sinew and decorated with appliquéd decoration of diamond shapes glued across the top of the opening and around the edge of the flap. A label states: 'Indian purse brought by Franklin for his daughter on his second journey Sept 1827' . However it is more likely to be of Inuit origin.
The object is associated with Sir John Franklin (1786-1847) and was purchased for his only daughter Eleanor Isabella.
