Ore samples

Ore samples from Baffin Island collected by Dr Walter Kenyon in 1974 from mines worked by Martin Frobisher between 1576-78. Kenyon organised a visit to Kolunarn Island in 1974 on behalf of the Royal Ontario Museum and collected artifacts from the site of Frobisher's camp. The black horneblende ore did not contain gold as Frobisher had hoped, and the venture to commercially extract it was abandoned.
