Architectural model
Architect's model of Greenwich Hospital, about 1699, in a wooden and glass display case. Case and model stored separately. This is the only surviving section of an originally larger design model made for Sir Christopher Wren during the early stages of the Hospital's construction (from 1696), probably by James Smallwell. It shows the original design of the 'base wing' (i.e. west side) of the King Charles Court, subsequently rebuilt in neo-classical style by John Yenn in 1812-15. MDL0022 relates to it as a contemporary design model for the Hospital domes, though not quite as built.
