Medal commemorating the defeat of the Spanish Armada, 1588. Obverse: Engagement of the fleets, above in clouds the name of Jehovah in Hebrew. Legend: 'FLAVIT [JEHOVAH] . ET . DISSIPATI . SVNT 1588' (He blew and they were scattered). Reverse: A church founded on a rock amid violent waves; shield of Prince Maurice of Orange below. Legend: 'ALLIDOR . NON . LAEDOR' (I am assailed not injured). The Dutch Prins Maurits asked the maker, Gerard van Blyaer to make this medal of the defeat of the Armada.
