Counter commemorating the Battle of the Texel and the death of Admiral Maarten Harpertszoon Tromp, 1653. Obverse: Bust of Admiral Tromp in a collar with order of St Michael (three-quarter right) supported by infant genii holding a naval crown over his head, a ribbon below inscribed, 'myn hert en handt was voor het landt' (my heart and hand were for this land). Reverse: A naval engagement, starboard quarter view of two vessels in the foreground, a sunken wreck below. Legend: 'Waarom doet muller Tromp door Kunst van gout en silver leeven: om dat hy d'yser eew door Krygsdeugd heeft verdreven obyt den 10 Aug: 1653' (Why does the art of Müller make Tromp live in gold and silver? Because his valour has removed from us the age of iron). This medal and the following ones by Müller and van Abeele are cast and chased.
