Medal commemorating the Battle of Bergen, 1665. Obverse: Naval action in the harbour, in the foreground houses palisaded and people witnessing the fight. Reverse: Inscription, 'Op de roof zugt van Carel de tweede voorgevallen den 10 Augusti 1665 voor bergen in Noorweegen' (On the piracy of Charles II, committed 10 August 1665, before Bergen in Norway). 'Dus wort Brittanjes Trotz gestuyt, die zelfs by Vriendt vaert op vryburyt; en tergt de Noortsche Wallen. Hy schaekt Vorst Fredrickshaven recht dog Krygt Syn loon, door boeg en plecht van Nederlandts donderballen' (A verse of poetry describing how the English insulting the forts of Norway and violating the rights of the harbours of the Danish king received as a reward the cannon balls of the Dutch). A double spray of laurel below.
