Obverse: William, armed and habited as a Roman Emperor, joining hands over a brazier with Britannia wearing a triple crown, the shield of England on an orange tree (right). In distance King James II and Father Petre in flight carrying the Prince (left). Legend: 'DEO VINDICE, IUSTITIA COMITE' (God our protector, Justice our companion). Obverse: Troops disembarking from boats on a quay, the town, a fleet on the horizon. Legend: 'CONTRA INFANTEM PERDITIONIS' (against the child of perdition). Exergue: 'EXPEDITIO NAUALIS PRO LIBERTATE ANGLIAE MDCLXXXVIII' (the Naval Expedition for the liberty of England). (Artist's initials absent from obverse).
