Medal commemorating the dangerous crossing of King William III and the fireworks at The Hague, 1691. Obverse: King William III and his suite landing from an open boat. Legend: 'QUID METUAS . CAESAREM VEHIS' (What do you fear? You carry Caesar). Exergue: 'REGI GUILHELMO PER GLACIEM NUBILA ET SYRTES REDUCI' (To King William on his return through, ice, fogs and quicksands). Reverse: Holland and Terpsichore standing by a portico (left), a pavilion (right) and a display of fireworks in distance. Legend: 'IO TRIUMPHE'. Exergue: 'D . F . A . REGE RECCRTO [sic] 5 . Feb :1691' (The festivity at the reception of the august king).
