Medal commemorating Admiral Cardinal Medici. Obverse: Bust of Cardinal Medici with long hair, in a robe (left). Legend: 'IO . CAROLVS . DE . AETRVRIA S . R . E . CARD . MEDICES'. Reverse: A galley, with single mast and sail furled, borne on clouds; stars in the sky. Legend: 'VASTVM PRIVS AEQVOR ARANDVM' (A vast sea must first be ploughed). The admiral was a brother of Cosimo III of Tuscany. Probably by G. F. Travani.
