Medal commemorating the Spanish Armada, 1588. Obverse: Bust of King Philip II of Spain in a ruff, gorget and order. Legend: 'PHILIPPVS . II . D. G . HISP . REX .' Reverse: A globe released from bands held by two hands attached to a yoke. Legend: 'SIC . ERAT . IN . FATIS' (Thus it was decreed by the fates). A satirical medal struck in Holland and not the work of the artist J. Trezzo.
