Water bottle
Used on Nares' Arctic expedition 1875. The design by F L McClintock describes this as a water bottle. Tinned sheet metal. A string for suspension is attached to two lugs on the shoulders. Corked. The neck is covered with leather to prevent the drinker's lips freezing. A leather covered tin cup is wedged on the base. "9 SPIRIT FLASK" painted on.
