Medal commemorating the Battle of Doggerbank and the death of Admiral Wolter Jan Bentinck, 1781. Obverse: A tombstone engraved with Admiral Bentinck's arms crowned by an urn; (encircled above with stars) a spear to which a laurel wreath is attached, a flag and two guns (left), a ship in the distance (right). Legend: 'WOLTER JAN BARON BENTINCK'. Exergue: 'als Kapetein gewond den 5. als Schout by Nagt en Adjud. overl. den 24. begr. 28 August. 1781.' (Wounded, as Captain, on the 5th, died as Admiral and Adjutant on the 24th, buried on 28 August 1781). Reverse: A bell-shaped altar with a trophy on either side supporting the Admiralty coat of arms, navally crowned and resting on an altar. Sculptured on the face of the altar, a winged figure of Victory treading on the British rose 'OP DOGGERSBANK'. Legend: 'DEUGDS BELONING'. (Virtue's reward). Exergue: 'OP, HOOG GEZAG' (By high command).
