Medal commemorating the Hamburg Society of Underwriters. Obverse: A ship on a wind, close hauled, in heavy sea. High rocks, (left). Legend: 'ANERKENNUNG TREUER PFLICHTERFÜLLUNG' (Acknowledgement of duty faithfully performed). Reverse: Inscription within a wreath of oak bearing the arms of Hamburg (above) and a shield with crossed anchors (below). Inscription: 'DEM CAPITAIN CHARLES MORICE 31 DECEMB . 1884 .' (To Captain Charles Morice. 31 December 1884). Legend: 'DER VEREIN HAMBURGISCHER ASSECURADEURE' (The Society of Hamburg Underwriters).
