Medal commemorating the destruction of the Turkish fleet at Sinope, 1853. Obverse: Within a band with pearl ring, bust of the Sultan in a fez, aigrette, robe and orders (front) face (three-quarter left). Legend: 'ABDHUL-MEDJID-KHAN EMPEREUR DES OTTOMANS.' Three stars below. Reverse: A draped female figure, staff tipped with crescent and star in left hand, places with right hand a wreath on a bier, covered with a pall embroidered with anchors. An antique prow in front of it. Trophies both sides. Legend: 'EUROPE ILS SONT MORTS POUR TOI.' Exergue: 'SINOPE 1853.'
