Medal commemorating the capture of Malvasia, 1690. Obverse: Hercules trampling upon the dragon seizing the golden apples from the tree (right). Legend: 'ALCIDES DOMITO RAPIT AUREA POMA DRACONE.' (Alcides slays the dragon and seizes the golden apples.) Reverse: Field divided, view of fortress, galleys in the foreground above, inscription below. Legend: 'NEAPOLISI MALVASEAE.' Exergue: 'VLTRA SESQVI SECVLVM SVB IVGO TVRC . INEXPVGNAB . HABITA TD . VIRTVTI VENETAE CEDIT, ET ADPRISCA RE-DIT OBSEQVIA, AVSPIC . SER . D . MOROSINI FORTITUDINE EXC . CORNERI CAP . G . D . 12 AVG . 1690.' Inscription relates how the fortress, held to be invincible, yielded to Venice under the Doge Morosini through the valour of Cornaro. (School of Nuremberg). Inscription (on edge): 'VT IUSTIS CEDVNT OMNIA FLVXA VIRIS'.
