Medal commemorating Archduke Charles III's proposed departure for Barcelona, 1700. Obverse: Bust of the Archduke Charles III in a long wig and cloak over armour, mantled (right). Legend: 'CAROLO AVSTRIACO LEOPOLDI MAGNI FILIO.' (To Charles of Austria, son of Leopold the Great.) Reverse: Starboard-quarter view of a battleship with Austrian colours sailing before the wind, a semicircle of clouds above. Legend: 'IVXTA IVRIS SOLISQVE VIAS.' (According to the course of Justice and the Sun.) Inscription (in a ribbon below), 'DICATVM INTER VOTA ET OMINA ANNI NOVO SECVLO SACRI . MDCC .' (Dedicated in the midst of vows and omens of the first year of a new century, 1700.) Inscription (on edge): 'CVIVS ET ANNIS ET GENERI FATVM INDVLGENT QVEM NVMINA POSCVNT .
