Medal commemorating the raising of the blockade of the Elbe, 1805. Obverse: The river-god, holding a cap of liberty on a staff, reclining below the lighthouse at Cuxhaven, welcoming two full-rigged ships under sail entering the river Elbe, over which Mercury, emptying his cornucopiae, is flying. Exergue: 'AUFHEBUNG DER ELBE BLOCKADE D . 9 . OCTOBER 1805.' (Raising the blockade of the Elbe, on 9 October 1805.) Reverse: View of Hamburg with vessels alongside the quays. Legend (in two lines): 'DER HERR HAT GROSSES AN UNS GETHAN DES SIND WIR FROEHLICH.' (The Lord hath done great things for us whereof we are glad.) (School of Nuremberg)
