Silver sauce ladle
One of two (the other is marked ZBA4273) matching fiddle-pattern hall marked silver sauce ladles, with oval bowls, engraved on the front of the handles with Nelsons 'San Josef' and chelengk crests. It is part of the Lloyd's presentation to Nelson after the Battle of Copenhagen. This ladle (ZBA4272) is by a different maker and later date than the other ladle (ZBA4273) and most of the other flatware in this service, so could be an additional or replacement piece made in Nelson's lifetime. The ladles match the Nelson silver sauce tureens in NMM's collection.
Fiddle pattern, with curved handle, oval bowl, front of handle engraved with two crests, one inscribed 'St Josef', the other the chelengk above a naval crown.
