St Jean D'Acre medal, Syrian War 1840. Obverse: The Sultan's cypher in Arabic, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Reverse: A fort flying the Turkish flag, above, six stars, inscription below in Arabic '1256' (1840) 'The country of Syria and the fortress of Acre'. Suspended from a crimson ribbon edged with white. Awarded by the Sultan of Turkey in gold and silver to officers and in bronze to men. Awarded to William Owen, Boy 2nd Class in 'Powerful'.
