Medal commemorating Admiral Sir Samuel Greig (1735-1788). Obverse: Bust of Admiral Greig draped with a flag of which the staff shows behind (left). Legend in Russian (Samuel, son of Charles Greig, Russian admiral). Reverse: A female figure wearing a mural crown, standing on the steps of an inscribed obelisk, decorated with flags above and trophies below, wreathes Grieg's coat of arms with the collar of the Order of St Andrew; the fleet at anchor in the distance. Inscription in Russian on the obelisk (In memory of labour and of service). Exergue: In Russian (Died 15th day of October, year 1788). Samuel Greig, after serving in the Royal Navy, took service with Russia in 1763; after Chesmé he obtained flag rank and in 1788 he fought an action with the Swedes off Hogland, dying the same year.
