Medal commemorating the Battle of Amager, 1710. Obverse: Bust of King Frederick IV in a long wig and armour, mantled, with order (right). Legend: 'FRIDERICUS . III . D . G . REX . DAN . NOR . V . G.' (Frederick IV, by the grace of God, King of Denmark, Norway, the Wends and Goths.) Reverse: A bird's-eye view of the Danish and Swedish fleets engaged, land on either side; a fortified town in foreground. Legend: 'VENIT TUMIDA . VIDIT ATTONITA . FUGIT TREPIDA.' (Proudly it [the fleet] came; in wonder it saw; panic-stricken it fled.) Exergue: 'CLASSIS . SUEC . DEO . VINDICE . AUSIS EXCIDENS II NAVIB . PRAETOR . SUB . AMAGRIA . COMBUST . D . V . OCT . MDCCX . P . B.' (The Swedish fleet foiled in its enterprise by the judgement of God, with the burning of two flagships off Amager on 5 October 1710.)
