Medal commemorating the protection of sea trade. Obverse: Head of King Gustavus III in a long wig (right), undraped, long curls. Legend: 'GUSTAVUS III D . G . REX SVECIAE.' (Gustavus III, by the Grace of God, King of Sweden.) Reverse: Starboard quarter view of a single-masted ship, with sail set, a caduceus and trident on the stern. Legend: 'SECURITAS COMMERCIORUM VINDICATA.' (The safety of commerce vindicated.) Exergue: 'CAROLICORONA DIE IV IUNII MDCCLXXIX.'
