Medal commemorating Admiral Jacques Bagge, b.1499. Obverse: Admiral Bagge's coat of arms with plumed helmet and three flags above, scrolls on either side. Legend: 'JAC . BAGGE THALASSIARCHA.' (Jacob Bagge, Admiral.) Reverse: Victory, winged, holding a wreath in her outstretched right hand, standing on the bow of an antique galley, laden with trophies. Legend: 'TESTIS ERIT MAGNIS VIRTUTIBUS UNDA.' (The sea will bear witness to his great virtues.) Exergue: 'AD BORNHOLMIAM, 1563.' (At Bornholm, 1563.) Struck by the Swedish Academy.
