Commemorative medal presented as a gift from the clergy to the navy. Obverse: Bust of King Louis XVI in a tie-wig, uniform and ribbon over shoulder (right). Legend: 'LUDOVICO XVI . REGI CHRISTIANISS.' (To Louis XVI, most Christian king.) Reverse: Below, a cross, an aureole and fleur-de-lis on either side. Inscription: 'PRO RE NAVALI NAUTARUMQUE VIDUIS ET PUPILLIS SPONTE DONA OFFEREBAT CLERUS GALLIC . MDCCLXXXII.' (On behalf of the navy and the widows and orphans of sailors, the French clergy voluntarily offered gifts.)
