Counter commemorating Vice-Admiral Jean de Moy, Seigneur de la Meilleraye, (died 1589). Obverse: The arms of Admiral de la Meilleraye upon an anchor, surrounded by the collar of the order of St Michael, the date (divided) on either side. Legend: 'IEHAN . DE . MOY . SR . DE . LA . MAILLERAYE.' Reverse: A monogram, 'DM', within crossed sprays of laurel upon two crossed anchors. Legend: 'MEDIVM . TENVERE . BEATI.' (They held the middle course [and were] fortunate.)
