Counter commemorating Admiral Anne, Duc de Joyeuse (1561-1587) and his loss of the King's favour. Obverse: The arms of Admiral the Duc de Joyeuse, coronet above, surrounded by two collars of orders. Legend: 'ANNE . D . D . IOIEVSE . PAIR . AMIRAL . DE . FRANCE . G . D . N.' (Governor of Normandy). Reverse: An anchor with crossed sprays of laurel and a bird with wings outspread perched upon its ring. Legend: 'STATVR . IN . INSTABILI.' (He is placed in a precarious position.) Exergue: '1585.' This signifies that he fell out of favour with King Henri III.
