Counter commemorating the opening up of the new colonies. Obverse: Bust of Admiral Louis Alexandre de Bourbon, Comte de Toulouse (1678-1737) (right). Legend: 'L . ALEXA . DE BOURBON C . DE TOULOUZE ADMIRAL DE FCE.' Reverse: A laurel sprouting from its base. Legend: 'CRESCIT PROLE NOVA.' (He is increased by new offspring.) Exergue: 'MARINE . 1723 .' New Orleans became the port of Louisiana in 1722, and the Ile Royale and Ile de France were settled.
