Reverse: A laurel sprouting from its base. Legend: 'CRESCIT PROLE NOVA.' (He is increased by new offspring.) Exergue: 'MARINE . 1723 .' New Orleans became the port of Louisiana in 1722, and the Ile Royale and Ile de France were settled.
