Medal commemorating the capture of St Christopher, 1666. Obverse: Head of King Louis XIV in a long wig (right). Legend: 'LUDOVICUS XIIII . REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS.' Reverse: America, with a head dress and skirt of feathers, armed with bow and arrows, holding the shield of France, and seated upon a rock, the English shield at her feet. Legend: 'COLONIA FR . STABILITA.' (The French colony established.) Exergue: 'ANGL . EX INSULA ST CHRISTOP . EXTURBAT . M . DC . LXVI.' (The English driven from the Island of St Christopher, 1666.)
