Pair of shoulder straps, Royal Naval uniform: pattern 1953
Pair of Admiral of the Fleet's shoulder straps belonging to Terence Thornton Lewin (1920-1999). The device is a crown over crossed batons within a laurel wreath. The crown in the 1953 Queen's Crown. The shoulder straps also have the Royal cypher of Queen Elizabeth II.
The shoulder straps are backed with white leather with the maker's name in gold and covered with gold lace on blue wool, the devices superimposed in silver embroidery. There is a gilt button at the top. The straps are attached with a long-shanked button and metal fastener at the top and white tapes at the lower corners. For wear with the ceremonial day coat, greatcoat, overcoat, watchcoat, tropical tunic and bush jacket.
