Plate

Plate, printed overall in gold and colours, commemorating the Falklands War, 1982. In the centre is Britannia seated with shield and lion, and ensigns at top and bottom of the plate inscribed ‘Falkland Islands 1982’.

It is surrounded by concentric circles containing regimental badges, with laurels and rope borders. Printed in brown on the back is the maker's mark and ‘Falkland Islands 1982’ ‘Designed by Holmes Gray’. Within a garter surmounted by flags are listed the flags and badges shown on the front of the plate: ‘Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Royal Marines, Special Boat Squadron, Royal Air Force, Army Air Corps, Special Air Service, Scots Guards, Welsh Guards, The Duke of Edinburgh's own Gurkha Rifles, Royal Regiment of Artillery, Blues and Royals, Royal Military Police, Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Corps of Royal Engineers, Royal Corps of Transport, Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Army Dental Corps, Royal Corps of Signals, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Royal Army Pay Corps, Royal Pioneer Corps, Army Catering Corps, Parachute Regiment’.
