Sextant box
Fitted square wooden box, probably not original to the instrument. The lid has inlaid wooden figures depicting a sextant with on either side two shipping companies house flags. They are for the Australian Steam Shipping Co. Ltd, London on the left, and for the Manchester Liners Ltd., Manchester on the right.
