Medal commemorating Admiral Edward Vernon (1684-1757) and Admiral Sir Chaloner Ogle (1681?-1750), capture of Porto Bello, 1739. Obverse: Three full-length figures - Vernon in centre, full face, wearing a hat, baton in right hand. Ogle (left) and Wentworth (right) on either side, facing inwards in profile. Wentworth holds a spear in his right hand. There are two small lions between the figures. No legend. Exergue: 'BRAVE : VERNON : OGLE AND WENTWORTH'. Reverse: View of the port. Six ships, placed one, two, three, all sailing to thee right. Spire W.I. A small leaf resembling butterfly at beginning of legend, which is enclosed by a line. Legend: ': HE . TOOK . PORTO . BELLO . WITH . SIX . SHIPS . ONLY'. Exergue: 'NOV . 22 . 1739'.
