Medal commemorating Admiral Edward Vernon (1684-1757), Admiral Sir Chaloner Ogle (1681?-1750) and General Thomas Wentworth, the attack on Cartagena, 1741. Obverse: Three half-length figures. Above: Vernon, three-quarter left, baton in left hand, the right extended. Below: (left) Wentworth, facing right, baton in right hand, the left extended. (Right) Lestock, three-quarter left, sword in right hand, pistol in left. Legend: 'THE GLORIOUS AND VICTORIOUS ADMIRAL VERNON'. Behind the heads of the two lower figures, in semicircle, inscribed: 'GEN WENTWORTH' (left), and 'COM LESTOCK'. Reverse: Plan of Carthagena harbour and numerous ships. Inscription (on the land, left): 'THEY TOOK BOCA CHICA CASTLE MARCH 25 1741'. The main attempt to capture Cartagena in April 1741 was in fact unsuccessful.
