Ribbons of Order over left shoulder; the King's gold medal around neck. Legend: 'ADAM LORD VISCOUNT DUNCAN ADMIRAL OF THE WHITE.' Exergue: 'BORN JULY 1 1731.' Reverse: A ship's topgallant mast and yard. A seaman nailing the Royal standard to the mast. Legend: 'OCTOBER II 1797 WITH 24 SHIPS & 1198 GUNS DEFEATED THE DUTCH FLEET OF 26 SHIPS & 1259 GUNS 9 SHIPS & 592 GUNS TAKEN'. Exergue: 'HEROIC COURAGE PROTECTS THE BRITISH FLAG'.
