Medal commemorating the British victories of 1798. Obverse: Bust of George III (left), tie-wig. Armour, George round the neck on a ribbon. Legend: 'GEORGIUS III . D : G . M . BR . FR . ET H . REX .' Reverse: Britannia seated among naval and military trophies, wearing helmet and holding spear in right hand, arm resting on the Union shield. In her extended left she holds up a small figure of Victory. Legend: 'MARI VICTRIX TERRAQUE INVICTA.' (Victorious on sea, unvanquished on land.) Exergue: 'AVITUM TRANSCENDIT HONOREM MDCCXCVIII.' (He surpasses the honour of his ancestors in 1798.)
