Two Inuit women with baby
An Inuit women, possibly a nurse, carrying a baby in a sling on her back, and a second woman standing beside her with hands raised to the nurse's shoulder. There is some masking paper on the emulsion side of the negative, and evidence of the background having been masked in the past. It is not known where this group was photographed. The Phoenix visited four settlements along the west coast of Greenland: Holsteinborg, Godhavn, Proven, and Upernarvick between 8 June and 21 July 1854.
