Legend: 'THE BIRKENHEAD COMMISSIONERS DOCKS, OPENED BY VISCOUNT MORPETH M. P. 5TH. APRIL 1847.' Reverse: Inscription above a semicircular oak wreath with the arms of the town in its centre.
