Technical drawing
No scale. An instructional drawing showing miscellaneous details of the stern of an unnamed three decker. The illustration is signed 'Cecil King'. Notes on the reverse read 'From model of HMS 'Barfleur' - Greenwich; Diagram to show details of stern - mid - 18th Century'. This could refer to model SLR0453.
There is also a note referring to 'Grace & Countenance'. While also far from certain, it could imply these drawings were to be used in L. G. Carr-Laughton's 1925 book 'Old Ships Figureheads & Sterns: with which are associated galleries, hancing pieces, catheads and divers other matters that concern the grace & countenance of old sailing ships'.
