Medal commemorating the Battle of the Nile, 1798. Obverse: The Admiral's bust, front view, head (three-quarter right), hair short. Full uniform. Ribbon over right shoulder, Star, and medal around neck. Legend: 'ADMIRAL LORD NELSON OF THE NILE.' Below: 'BRITAINS GLORY & DEFENCE.' Reverse: The British flagship breaking through between two ships at anchor, into which she fires both her broadsides. Legend: 'ALMIGHTY GOD HAS BLESSED HIS MAJESTY'S ARMS.' Exergue: 'FRENCH FLEET DEFEATED AUGUST . 1 . 1798.'
