Medal commemorating the action off Tory Island, 1798 and Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren (1753-1822). Obverse: Bust of Sir J.B. Warren (right), pigtail, full uniform, ribbon of K.B. over right shoulder under the coat. Legend: 'SIR I . BORLASE WARREN BART . K . B . REAR ADMIRAL OF THE BLUE.' Reverse: Ireland, her shield near by, sits on a cannon by the seashore, playing the harp with the right hand, while the left holds up a laurel branch. A two-decker (British) under fore topsail, two distant sails. Legend: 'ATTACKED & DEFEATED THE FRENCH SQUADRON ON THE COAST OF IRELAD (sic).' Exergue: 'OCTO 12 1798.'
