Counter commemorating the SS 'Great Britain'. Obverse: Starboard broadside view of the six-masted vessel 'Great Britain' under fore and aft sail, except on the main mast, and steam. Legend (in two lines): 'THE GREAT BRITAIN STEAM-SHIP' 'LAUNCHED AT BRISTOL'. Exergue: 'LENGTH 322 FT. BREADTH 50.6 DEPTH 32.6.' Reverse: Inscription, 'THIS IRON STEAM SHIP WAS LAUNCHED IN THE PRESENCE OF H.R.H. PRINCE ALBERT JULY 19. 1845 THE WEIGHT OF IRON USED IN THE SHIP AND ENGINES IS UPWARD OF 1500 TONS'.
