Medal commemorating British Victories 1797-1809. Obverse: Bust of George III (right), hair tied behind. Collar of the Garter over ermine mantle. Legend: 'GEORGIVS . III . D G BRITANNIARVM . REX.' Reverse: Fame, winged and draped, holding a wreath in left hand, is on the left knee (facing left), before a column on which she is inscribing 'NIL[E] EGYP[T] COPEN[HAGEN] [GIBR]ALTER S . VINCEN[T] ACRE PORT[UGAL] TRAFAL[GAR] TALAV[ERA].' Legend: 'MATVROS LARGIMVR HONORES' (We lavish honours in the fullness of time). Exergue: 'L' whence issue rays. It is surrounded by a snake biting its tail.
