Trial piece for a medal commemorating the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805. Uniface. Obverse: Bust of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) (left), hair tied behind. Full dress uniform with two stars and other decorations. Legend: 'NELSON ET BRONTI . VICTOR TRAFALGAR ET VICTIMA.' (The Victor and Victim of Trafalgar). Below: 'PERIIT ET PERIIT . OCT . 21 . 1805.' (He passed through the perished). A trial piece for the medal authorised by Dr Turton.
