Engraved commemorative coin

Obverse: Engraved on a smooth plate port broadside view of a full-rigged ship at anchor. Inscription: 'They that in Ships with Courage bold / O'er swelling waves their trade Pursue / Do God's amazing works behold / And in the deep his wonders view'. Reverse: A monogram inscription: 'JD' on a shield surrounded by rose-sprays. Inscription: 'The Gift of Mr JOHN DAVEY to his Sister MISS THIRZA DAVEY'. With a suspension hole. The presence of a dolphin striker under the bowsprit (indicatng after 1794) and the apparent inclusion of the St Andrew saltire in the Union quadrant of the ensign, suggest this dates to the early years of the 19th century despite its archaic general style.
