DE . OUDE'. Reverse: Above, the lion of Zealand swimming, the arms of the United Provinces (left) and those of Middelburg (right) below, the admiral's arms supported by leaf-sprays. Legend: 'DOOR . WIENS . SPRONGEN . DE . OPGEBLAASE . DOG . OP . T . HAASPAD . IS . GEBRACHT . 4 JULI . 1610 17 JUNI . 1666.' (His sudden attacks [lit. leaps] have put the proud [lit. inflated] dogs [i.e. England] to flight. 4 July 1610. 17 June 1666.) Inscription: 'DIE . LEEUW . DIE . SCHUIMEND . DOOR HET . PEEKELSCHUIM .
