Medal commemorating the Russian Navigation Society. Obverse: Four medallions, encircled by oak and laurel wreaths, each representing the head of a sovereign. Above: Nicholas II (left). Legends in Cyrillic, and abbreviated (By the Grace of God, Nicholas II, Emperor and Autocrat of all the Russias). Right: Alexander III (left). (Alexander III, Emperor, etc., etc.) Left: Alexander II (right). Legend same as preceding legend with 'III'. Below: Peter the Great (left). (Peter I, etc., etc.) In Slavonic characters above (Imperial), below (Society of Navigation). Reverse: On a pedestal rising out of the sea stands a female draped figure, holding aloft a torch in her left hand, the right resting on an anchor. At her feet, over the Russian merchnat flag, a trident and boathook crossed and a steering-wheel. Legend within circle in Russian (For useful labours).
